UFC Fight Night 42

Geeks Preview

This card doesn’t exactly have the looks of a jaw-dropping night like we’ve had the last three weeks, but there’s definitely a handful of diamonds in the rough. Let’s get straight to it, these are the fights to watch working up from the prelims:

Terrance McKinney VS Fares Ziam

  • Major-lazer prospect matchup we got here between two incredibly talented young studs who both are coming off impressive debuts. Well there’s impressive debuts and then there’s what Terrance McKinney did in his debut, knocking out a known tough opponent in Matt Frevola in an immaculate 7 seconds. Yes, 7 seconds is all it took for McKinney to approach Matt and land a single straight 2 down the pipe that’s placed as clean as could be and turns Frevola’s lights completely out, putting the division on notice. Fares on the other hand spent the entirety of his debut fighting takedowns and flashing his high level muay thai striking techniques at range when he could. This matchup has all the ingredients for a wildly entertaining matchup as they both have massive ceilings in the division.

Adrian Yanez VS Davey Grant

  • Yanez is going to be someone you want to watch every time he fights for the next couple of years, and I say that because of his fight-style. Just a ‘walk you down’, technical boxer with explosive power in his hands. Grant on the other hand is a frantic party stopper who loves to get takedowns and work from the top, which I expect will make this fight move at a blistering fast pace. Keep your eyes on this fight for some kind of wild finish, these boys get after it.

Michael Chiesa VS Sean Brady

  • Oh boy! This is the people's main event of the night FOSHO! Both these guys are extremely dangerous grapplers if you didn’t know already, and this is a massive move up in competition for Brady as he attempts to take out the super respected and highly praised #6 ranked welter-weight, UFC Veteran in Chiesa. If this fight goes to the mat, we are in for a treat because these guys seriously scramble breh. If it stays on the feet, It’s going to be super interesting to see how these grappling based fighters square off toe to toe with their own unique and unorthodox striking styles. LOCK IN FOR THIS ONE!
