This Saturday in Birmingham, England at BKFC 90, Darren Till will step into an entirely new world of combat. Making his highly anticipated debut in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, he will fight Aaron Chalmers at 185lbs. A formidable opponent with experience in the BKFC at 2-0 (2 TKOS), as well as having gone the full duration of an exhibition boxing match against Floyd Mayweather in 2023.
For those who’ve followed Darren’s UFC journey, you already know the guy doesn’t shy away from a challenge, with big name opponents on his resume like Robert Whittaker, Dricus Du Plessis, Jorge Masvidal, and even Derrick Brunson. Just like he doesn’t shy away from a big challenge, he most definitely doesn’t shy away from massive paychecks either. In the buildup to this fight he’s been quoted several times saying that the offer to start sending and receiving bare knuckle heat missiles was simply “irrefusable”. That’s got to be a healthy chunk of change!
The former MMA standout is dropping the gloves, proving that sometimes, you really do just have to risk it all for that sweet, sweet payday. I mean, we all know those veneers played a major role in the time it took to make this decision. Especially with seeing what happened to Luke Rockhold’s custom chompers after his meetup with the King of Violence, Mike Perry.
But hey, let’s be honest, who wouldn’t consider a new adventure if the money’s right? I mean he’s either financially on the ropes or these guys over at BKFC have some serious funding, and something tells me it’s the latter of those options.
The exposure Till will get here could be massive as well. BKFC is growing fast, tapping into millions of fans who crave that authentic, raw combat vibe. For Till, this is a chance not only to reinvent himself, but also to showcase his skills in a way few fighters will ever dare to. His charisma and showmanship boils into the perfect storm of opportunity for the lad to resurge his brand.
Till has always been known to have exceptionally crisp striking, and that goes for his pure boxing skills as well, but he’s an 8-limb fighter at his core. He’s had a few standard boxing fights in recent times, but he just hasn’t looked himself. Slightly overweight, gassing quick, and not bringing the shows that us the fans were used to seeing back in his UFC run.
At 185lbs and the fluent nature of his vicious combinations, he might not need to show much grit or cardio in this one. With the impact he’ll have on his shots in a bare-knuckle setting, it’s going to be quite the spectacle. Let’s hope those hands hold up.
With all being said, the shape he looks to be in now coming into this debut is extremely promising. He is shredded, lean, and seemingly back to his chirpy & cocky behavior on socials where he’s been going back and forth with Mike Perry and his team for leaving the promotion just before he signed.
Saturday night has all the potential to bring Darren Till back to the limelight and position himself for continuous massive headliners for BKFC as they travel and bring on more talent. We all know a post fight interview with him in itself can crank views and go viral, now imagine with a big time KO highlight to add on top.
This Saturday night also has the potential to put Darren in an incredibly tough position, as his opponent Aaron may not be as credentialed or known in the fight world, he’s really freaking tough. Bare-Knuckle separates the men from the boys in the most violent way imaginable.
Of course, Darren can make quick work in round 1 and the same goes for Aaron, but if this fight enters the later rounds we are going to really see what Darren’s will to still win looks like, or if he’s simply here to collect that “irrefusable” paycheck he so loudly emphasized in the buildup.
One thing is for sure and that while this is a big moment for Till, this is also Aaron’s biggest chance to shock the world and catapult himself into big money fights since Floyd in 2023.
Nothing to take lightly with no padding on those fists.
Download the BKFC App today and don’t miss the action live on Saturday night.
