DWCS Week 5 Breakdown/Predictions

Denise Gomes v Rayanne Amanda
This fight should be a good showcase of talent for Denise Gomes. Gomes is 22 years old with a good all-around mma skillset. She is Brazilian and trains at a very good gym, Parana Vale tudo. Improving the ground game has been an emphasis as she has been competing and winning grappling contests recently. Her opponent, Rayanne Amanda, is coming into this one with an 11-5 record. Amanda has done well against lower competition and struggled against opponents with good records. 8 of her wins have been against opponents with 1 win or less. I think this is a good spot for Denis Gomes to go out and get a win here. She has beat better level competition and shows more upside in this matchup. Prediction: Gomes(-260)
Josh Wang-Kim v Cameron Saaiman
Josh Wang-Kim is a solid prospect in the prime of his career at 29 year old. He had an extensive amateur career against quality competition before turning pro in 2020. Wang-Kim only has 1 loss on his record and it is from illegally elbowing his opponent in a fight he was winning. I expect he will have a clear advantage in the stand-up here. Cameron Saaiman is a young, undefeated prospect out of South Africa. He comes into this one sporting a record of 5-0. The 21 year old’s best path to victory will be to get this fight to the mat. Saaiman has done his best work there with his finishes coming via submissions and ground n pound. I think Wang-Kim will be the best opponent he has faced to this point and that will be a tough task for the South African. Prediction: Wang-Kim(-225)
Erisson Ferreira v Jesus Santos Aguilar
This is going to be an action packed bout between two solid flyweights. Ferreira is making his second appearance on the Contender Series. His first being a decision win that didn’t get him a contract. He is a sizable favorite in this one and rightfully so. He has a better record against seemingly better competition. That is not a fade on Aguilar as he is 5 years young at 26 years old. I expect him to be a little less technically sound, but better cardio. Ferreira would have been a straightforward pick for me, but he had some problems making weight. I am going to side with Santos Aguilar coming on late and giving Ferreira problems after a tough first round. The value is on the underdog here, but this is going to be a close one. I guess a 29-28 decision either way. Prediction: Aguilar (+160)
Amiran Gogoladze v Darrius Flowers:
Amiran Gogoladze is the better prospect here, but Darrius Flowers poses problems early with immense power. The Gogoladze line is a bit steep at -275, but understandable. He is a really exciting Georgian prospect. I like that he has experience in M-1 before this match. Amiran has amassed 16 pro fights at just 24 years old. He turned pro in 2014 at just 16 years old. His opponent, Darrius Flowers, has racked up a ton of KO’s. That power will be a live threat early and could be worth a sprinkle. The Georgian has never been KO’d however and I don’t expect that trend to change. He has a good fight IQ and a better all around game than Flowers. The longer this fight goes the better he will look, but he needs to avoid Flowers' power early. Prediction: Gogoladze(-275)
Eduardo Neves v Michael Parkin:
Straight to the point, these are heavyweights with good pop so it’s a toss up. Eduardo Neves has a better resume as a professional. Parkin went 6-0-1 as an amateur, and the Brazilian did not have an amateur career that I can find. Neves has been tearing it up at Legacy Fighting Alliance which is a really good look for him. Both these prospects are 5-0 as pro’s, but the competition levels are far different. Parkin hasn’t fought an opponent with a winning record and the last 3 opponents for Neves have been undefeated. Both these men have been getting it done with round 1 knockouts in recent bouts, so it is shaping up to be a firefight. I am guessing Neves will have the more technical game and a little more gas in the tank if this fight makes it out of the first. It is risky to make a play on either given they are both undefeated heavyweights with a knack for finishing their opponents, but the edge has got to be with Neves here based on their professional resumes. Prediction: Neves(-190)
